Ukraine war: G7 agrees to impose price cap on Russian oil
Members of the G7 have agreed to impose a price cap on Russian oil in a bid to hit Moscow's ability to finance the war in Ukraine.
Finance ministers said the cap on crude oil and petroleum products would also help reduce global energy prices. The cap will be set at a level based on a range of technical inputs.
"We will continue to stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes," the G7 said.
Russia said it would stop selling oil to countries that imposed price caps.
"Companies that impose a price cap will not be among the recipients of Russian oil," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
The G7 (Group of Seven) consists of the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. The group is an organisation of the world's seven largest "advanced" economies, which dominate global trade and the international financial system...
EU's von der Leyen backs price cap on Russian pipeline gas
Europe needs to impose a price cap on Russian pipeline gas, EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday, to foil what she said were Russian President Vladimir Putin's attempts to manipulate the bloc's energy market...
Russia cuts off gas exports to Europe via Nord Stream indefinitely
Russia won't immediately resume exports of natural gas to Europe through its Nord Stream 1 pipeline, worsening a shortage that threatens to tip the continent into an energy crisis this winter.
On Friday, Russian state energy giant Gazprom said it would not resume flows through the pipeline on Saturday as planned because it had detected an oil leak at its Portovaya compressor station. The pipeline has been shut since Wednesday for maintenance.
It didn't give a timeline of when exports might resume.
"Until the issues on the operation of the equipment are resolved, gas supplies to the Nord Stream gas pipeline have been completely stopped," Gazprom said in a statement...
Europe’s Benchmark Power Price Breaks 1,000 Euros for First Time
German Power for next year, the European benchmark, broke through 1,000 euros ($993) for the first time as the region’s energy crisis intensifies.
The move comes after a chaotic Friday when prices in Germany and France surged more than 25% as Russia constricts the supply of natural gas. France is also suffering from a slump in nuclear power generation.
German power for 2023 rose as much as 6.6% to trade at 1,050 euros per megawatt-hour at 10:19 a.m. in Berlin.
The equivalent French contract surged above the 1,000-euro level on Friday...
O que vem aí? e muito em breve?
Caos.
Queda de governos.
Possível implosão da Europa.
Guerras civis.
